The stars are aligning for Moby Dick — literally. The Guardian reports that notables such as David Cameron, Tilda Swinton, Stephen Fry and Simon Callow have jumped aboard an ambitious project to broadcast Herman Melville’s classic novel in its entirety – 135 chapters over 135 days. The readings are being broadcast daily online at Moby Dick Big Read (with each reader taking on one chapter) accompanied by images inspired by the book from contemporary artists.
At the time of posting, the Big Read is on Chapter 3 — only 132 more to go! So who will get to read the immortal words from Chapter 133, The Chase — First Day: “There she blows! — there she blows! A hump like a snow-hill! It is Moby Dick!”? You’ll have to tune in and find out…
