Jack and Holman and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Review

Kirkus-Reviews-Cozy-Classics

We went to sleep with gum in our mouths and now there’s gum in our hair and when we got out of bed this morning we saw an absolutely scathing review of Cozy Classics. Replete with phrases such as “pass on this snake oil” and “breathtaking opportunism”, the review is, well, breathtaking. The bad news is the review is by the venerable magazine Kirkus Reviews. The good news (relatively speaking) is that the reviewer objects to all sorts of positions that we’ve never taken, such as the notion that our books will make your kids smarter. Read the review (entitled “Let Babies Be Babies”). Given how inaccurately the reviewer portrayed our positions on Cozy Classics, we felt compelled to reply. Our response can be found in the comments section of the review.

Contrary to Kirkus’ assertions that we’re trying to pressure babies towards academics, here is a recent blog post that describes one family’s experience with Cozy Classics as we envisioned it.

But sometimes we should expect a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad review. Some days are like that. Even in Australia.
