Jack and Holman Wang are twin brothers who grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia. They first began writing and illustrating books together in the third grade.
Jack earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in creative writing from the University of Arizona and a Ph.D. in English with an emphasis in creative writing from Florida State University, where his major area was the history of the novel. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Writing at Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York, where he specializes in fiction writing and is a former Chair.
Holman, a full-time children’s author / illustrator and a sometimes lawyer, holds a bachelor’s degree in education, a master’s degree in architecture history, and a law degree, all from the University of British Columbia. Holman has given presentations about his unique illustration process at SXSW, Star Wars Celebration, Google, Lucasfilm Letterman Campus, San Diego Comic-Con, Maker Faire and Interesting Vancouver.
Jack and Holman were invited to create a Google Doodle in honor of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s 148 birthday, which appeared on the Google homepage on February 7, 2015.
The Wang brothers’ unique artwork has been honored with juried selections to participate in the Bologna Children’s Books Fair Illustrators Exhibition in 2013 and The Original Art Exhibition (Society of Illustrators) in 2015.
Jack has seven and five year-old daughters. Holman has a six year-old daughter and a four year-old son. They both love reading to their children, and they’re both eager to pass on the classics.
